The Honda NSX could make a comeback as an electric model.
The Honda NSX is expected to make a comeback with an electric powertrain in the coming years, as part of the Japanese company’s new line-up of radical electric vehicles.
After the presentation of the sedan concept, which will become the first car in the new 0 Series line-up, company CEO Toshihiro Mibe revealed that Honda is already “exploring sports cars in the electric era,” even confirming that “we have a sports car” at the research and development center.
He refrained from confirming the details of the production version of Honda’s first electric sports car, but stated that progress is being made “steadily” in its development.

Regardless, the sports car is meant to serve as the flagship for the 0 Series line-up of electric vehicles. These models will hit the market from 2026 with a range of technical innovations aimed at maximizing interior space, reducing battery weight, and improving efficiency, while also focusing on “driving pleasure” with particular attention to driver engagement.
As part of this line-up, the sports car will follow the 0 Series concept revealed at CES earlier this month, adopting a low and forward-oriented profile, as well as a minimalist cockpit focused on the driver to eliminate distractions.
The battery will be significantly lighter than those in Honda’s current electric vehicles, and propulsion will come from electric axle drive units, combining motors, inverters, and gearboxes into a compact unit – all in the name of optimizing interior space.
As part of this process, Honda is conducting “a thorough analysis” of the current market for electric sports cars, he said, although he did not mention specific competing vehicles.
